High Peaks Solar is installing a solar powered cell phone tower! This system will be completely off grid. The utility lines are too far away to power the communication devices. High Peaks Solar’s crew will install a generator, batteries, solar panels, and inverter. All of this equipment will provide a situation where solar will be the primary source of energy for the cell phone communications equipment. If there is not enough sunlight, a propane generator will automatically start and charge the batteries. This will likely be the case during the winter, while solar provides most of the energy during all other seasons. This will result in a significant reduction in propane use for the generator.
